Pottery by Rosemary Aicher
Rosemary Aicher is an award-winning ceramic artist. Following an international career as an archaeologist, Rosemary settled in Kitchener Ontario to pursue her craft. Her life-long love of drawing and travel finds its way into her work in clay. She often transfers sketches directly on to the glazed surface of the clay or uses shellac resist to create relief patterns. She also explores various techniques, including sgraffitto, wax resist and under glaze. The common thread is her fascination with the beauty of lines.
This new collection 'Octopi', is inspired by an old family story from the Island of Gozo. The series features Rosemary's drawings transferred onto the glazed surfaces of her bowls, mugs, vases and trays.
