Botanical Pigment-Making - Thursday, September 10; 1 pm to 4 pm
Under Rebecca Fortin’s guidance, you’ll explore the art of creating botanical pigments from local plants such as goldenrod, nettle, berries, and more. Through gentle, hands on experimentation, you’ll learn how to transform raw botanicals into handmade pigments suitable for artmaking. Participants will have the chance to test their pigments on watercolour paper, discovering the unique hues each plant offers. After testing your pigments, you’ll create a more detailed botanical ink and watercolour piece, drawing inspiration from fresh plants from Rebecca’s garden and using waterproof ink pens to refine your lines.
Special note: for those who’ve attended Rebecca’s previous botanical casting workshop, this is a wonderful opportunity to bring back your botanical cast artwork and add colour to your cured pieces.

Course fee: $85 (+ $35 materials fee payable to the instructor) An additional materials list will be sent prior to class.
