A Beginner's Guide to Soft Pastels - Re-seeing the Apple - Saturday, November 23; 10 am to 4 pm
You do not need to be a full-fledged artist to enjoy the creative outlet of pastel painting. Soft pastels are a great way for beginners to step into the world of art. No complex colour mixing required, you simply choose a colour from your collection and you are ready to go. No brushes, solvents or oils, you just need a little bit of inspiration and your pastel sticks and paper. Unlike acrylic or oils, you can stop painting anytime and pick it back up where you left off.
In this class you will be introduced to the approaches and techniques of soft pastel painting, pastel brands and papers. Removing the stress of having to produce a finished painting, you will spend your time getting to know the medium through a series of fun, hands-on exercises based on re-seeing one of life's simple pleasures - the everyday apple. Group sharing and participation will make this an enjoyable experience for everyone.
If you ever wanted to see if soft pastels might fill your creative cup, this is your chance.
