Intro to Enamelling with Tim Laurin - Saturday, April 12; 10 am to 4 pm
Experience the vibrancy of coloured glass melted onto metal. In this vitreous enamel workshop, each student will make up to three items (ranging from earrings to pendants) by applying glass powders onto copper shapes and firing until the glass melts. We will cover basic metal forming and finishing techniques typical used in jewellery making. Along with various enamel application techniques such as sifting, stencil and painting, you will be shown how to fire the work with a simple propane torch as well as with a small kiln. You will also learn how to complete your jewellery with sterling silver findings so that you can wear your finished work for many years to come.
Instructor: Tim Laurin
Duration: full-day, 10 am to 4 pm (there is a one-hour break for lunch; lunch is not included)
Course Fee: $130 (+ $15 materials fee payable to the instructor)
