Beginner Encaustic - Saturday, May 30; 10 am to 4 pm
Encaustic is one of the oldest forms of painting, and dates back to ancient times in Greece. This form of painting involves using a combination of beeswax and tree resin to create paints which are viscous and fluid when warm, and hardened when cooled. Explore colour and application in this one-day encaustic workshop. You'll learn basic encaustic methods plus how to make use of additional tools and techniques for creating textures. Inspired by the colours of spring, in this workshop each student will work from the same reference with lots of options to make your piece uniquely yours. Some painting experience is preferred.
