Paint with Beeswax! Introduction to Encaustics - Saturday, August 20, 10 am to 4 pm
Encaustic is one of the oldest forms of painting, and dates back to ancient times in Greece. This form of painting involves using a combination of beeswax and tree resin to create paints which are viscous and fluid when warm, and hardened when cooled. Students will be able to explore this paint's versatility with many differing techniques. You'll be able to play with the paint's texture, thickness, and add mixed media elements to your pieces. This class will give students a direct step-by-step process on how to properly complete a finished encaustic painting from priming a substrate to adding a final finish. A material cost of $40 payable to the instructor will provide all supplies needed for this class.
